Woodbine Mile Stakes (G1) / Woodbine, 09.20.09 / Download Chart (PDF)

PROS

  • Ventura became the first filly or mare to win this race. She was prepared perfectly off a six-month layoff and responded by winning without feeling the whip. She only received weight (three pounds) from her main rival, Met Mile winner Bribon.

CONS

  • Absolutely none.

BOTTOM LINE

  • Ventura is a true champion and ran like one, defeating a quality field easily. She will defend her title in the Filly and Mare Sprint and be one of the shortest priced favorites Breeders Cup weekend and deservedly so.

As visually impressive race I’ve seen in a long time. Good luck to anyone trying her in her next race.
