Positives: Only Green returned to winning form in a seven furlong listed stakes at Chantilly Oct. 15, her first victory since a listed stakes score at Longchamp in May. In between she had the misfortune of being used as a pacemaker for Goldikova and on three occasions was virtually distanced after doing the dirty work for her more fabled stable mate. Left to her own devices, she’s not half bad, and it was good to see that her confidence remained intact with her success just a couple of weekends ago. She also sports a win (in her only start) on an all weather strip, having captured a small Polytrack affair at Deauville earlier this year against modest competition.
Concerns: Even with her best effort, Only Green appears overmatched in the BC Filly and Mare Sprint. She earned a 104 Racing Post rating in her Prix de Saint-Cyr score, but that won’t make her competitive against the best sprinting distaffers America has to offer. Her all weather success earned a weak figure, so if that’s what they’re hanging their hat on, she might be more useful to the stable reprising her rabbit’s role in the BC Mile.
Bottom Line: Only Green has little chance to make any impression in the Filly and Mare Sprint, but if she runs a few errands for Goldikova while she’s here, the trip won’t be a total loss.
