DAR RE MI-GB
Owner: Lord Lloyd Webber
Trainer: John Gosden
Pedigree: B.f.,4, by Singspiel – Darara, by Top Ville

Positives: Dar Re Mi showed considerable promise as a 3-year old in 2008 when she won or placed in several group stakes and among her victories was a listed affair at Newmarket over a filly named Icon Project. However, she’s taken her game to a new level this season and ranks among the premier older staying fillies and mares in the world. She captured her first Group-1 stakes when winning the 10f Pretty Polly S. at The Curragh in June and then verified that performance by shocking Sariska in the 12f Yorkshire Oaks-G1 in her next event two months later. Another Group-1 triumph was stolen from her at Longchamp in September after she crossed the wire first in the 12f Prix Vermeille-G1, only to be disqualified for apparently impeding a ghost during the stretch run. She then lost nothing of her reputation when fifth (but in a photo for second) behind Sea the Stars in the Arc in her most recent appearance. In that race she finished lapped on fourth place finisher Conduit and will have that colt to beat when the hook up again in the BC Turf.

Concerns: Dar Re Mi performed admirably in three grueling events during a relatively short period of time (six weeks), so she might be ready for a holiday.

Bottom Line: Dar Re Mi would most likely be the favorite to win the Filly and Mare Turf but the race against the boys carries more purse money and she’s more than capable of winning it. There is no more skilled trainer than John Gosden, so if he opts for the BC Turf, you can expect the very best from D.R.M. Superstar.
