PROS
- Race winner Pyro is finally back to his early 3-year-old form when he was a hot choice for the 2008 Kentucky Derby.
- Pyro was probably never as good as the hype, but was always a talent. Still, the colt would have to take a giant step forward to win a Breeders’ Cup race.
CONS
- The speed horses in the race were no threat so the race really set up for closers.
BOTTOM LINE
- Pyro is not really a sprinter so the Sprint seems very unlikely. The Dirt Mile would make much more sense, but the colt was no good on the Polytrack at Keeneland in the Blue Grass and finished sixth the 2008 Dirt Mile on the Pro-Ride. So the surface has to be an issue for Pyro.
