PROS

  • Recently purchased by the IEAH Stables, Diamondrella didn’t disappoint with an effective turn of foot over the soft ground to hold off the late kicking, ultra consistent defending Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf champion Forever Together.

CONS

  • Forever Together was hindered both by the soft ground and getting shuffled way back early.

BOTTOM LINE

  • At least two very live contenders will move forward to Santa Anita and will likely not face each other again. Forever Together should be the one to beat again in the Filly and Mare Turf, and trainer Angel Penna, Jr. will face a tough decision whether to run Diamondrella in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint or the Mile.
